At Stella Maris Resort every day of your vacation can offer a new adventure, as we are located on an island that is famous for its beautiful beaches and bays to the west and the east.

Our beaches are perfect for shelling, swimming, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding or simply just doing nothing at all!

Just below our resort on the Atlantic side lies a small beach partially protected by outer rocks. Imagine pretty coarse white sand alternating with occasional rock nature pools, ocean breezes and wave action.

Our beach features: cabanas, hammocks, children’s playground, beach chairs, freshwater swimming pool, “Moonshine Beach Bar”, and a boardwalk to “Erna’s Natural Pool”.

For persons staying on our nightly rates, we offer complimentary morning beach excursions to Cape Santa Maria Beach (Mondays through Fridays), one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, about a fifteen minute bus ride away where you can enjoy the pure white-powdery sand and some light off shore snorkeling. Travelling with kids?…no need to worry most of our beach sites are ideal for small children!

Complimentary AM trips also to stunning Columbus Harbour which boasts one mile of completely protected shallow inner bay beach, plus two further ½ mile outer beaches, great for snorkeling and shelling.

Also, a little fun fact: Christopher Columbus rowed into this bay on his first New World voyage! And a brand new staircase takes you right to the top of the monument so you can enjoy spectacular bay and Atlantic ocean views.

Explore the six superb and secluded Atlantic beaches at “Love Beach”, featuring a large natural swimming pool completely protected except in severe weather.

Continuing south: a short hike to five more beaches, average length each 1/3 – 1/2 mile, mostly open, with some partially protected coves.

Relax at the secluded “Millerton’s School Beach”, about 1 mile long full of small shells and a small island just 200 yards off shore good for some nice ‘miniature’ snorkeling.

If you feel like you haven’t seen enough beaches on our free excursions, no need to worry we offer rental cars where you can hop right in and explore the other beaches that Long Island has to offer! Along the north and southwest shore “Adderley’s Bay” offers calm and protected beaches with shallow water, superb for bonefishing!

Venture further south to “Guana Cay” known for its curly tail lizards, with good snorkeling at a shallow wreck, “Turtle Cove” a beautiful serene half circle bay/nature pool, or “Gordon’s Beach” at the end of the island perfect for shelling and you might even see the wild flamingos! And, don’t forget to visit a stop of Dean’s Blue Hole, great for snorkeling and beaching.
