Pilot Briefing: Private Pilots' First Visit, First Night Free!

Stella Maris seems specially made for Private Pilots. For years now aviators have been "discovering" Long Island. Fly your plane into Stella Maris International Airport, check in at Stella Maris Resort, for a 3 or more nights and one night will be FREE!

There are a few restrictions. This discount is for first time visitors only. Minimum stay is three nights. Maximum people per party are four. Accommodation will be Stella Maris hotel room or 1 bedroom cottage. This is a summer season special and applies to reservations for arrival through December 15th only. The Bahamas Benefit From New Phones

May 30, 2003. Long Island, Bahamas. The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism has formed a new partnership with the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (Batelco), making it easier for pilots to fly in and out of the Bahamas. Each Airport of Entry will have one phone that is pre-programmed with speed dial numbers most often needed by private pilots; those numbers typically include Weather, Flight Service, East Coast US Customs Facilities, and long distance calling card access for AT&T, MCI, and Sprint.

The folks at the Stella Maris Resort Club, in Long Island, Bahamas, are thrilled with the new phones that have already been installed in the Stella Maris International Airport (MYLS). Its airport is an Airport of Entry with Bahamas Customs and Immigration, has a 4000' paved runway, and is a Fixed Base Operation (FBO) managed by Hawkline with services including Av-Gas. The private pilot phones are fully operational and plans have been made for installation in multiple airports throughout the Islands of the Bahamas. Plans are also being made to have cell phone service available throughout The Bahamas, making it more convenient for pilots to get customs clearance.
