Ending up (South) in 3 interconnecting 'natural rock pools' - great for children in calm weather. A pretty 'miniature' snorkeling site.
South of our Bahamas beach resort (distance from 1 mile) - Atlantic Coast: The Love Beaches.
The first one: A perfect, large, natural swimming pool, completely protected except in severe weather. Great for children of all ages, with pretty 'miniature' snorkeling. Continuing south: 6 more beaches, average length each 1/3 - 1/2 mile, mostly open, with some partially protected coves, occasional outer rocks, all allowing bathing, swimming, and snorkeling off the beach in calm weather. Pink coarse sand. All great for beachcombing! Usually completely secluded. Stella Maris Resort Club guests enjoy FREE transport. Or about 4 minutes by bicycle.
South of Stella Maris - West Coast (leeside):
Deal's Beach: About 8 minutes away along island's quiet main road (transportation provided by Resort Club). A beautiful 2 mile long shallow bay, great for beach walking, wading, swimming, 'trial snorkeling' (only small stuff), and sailing on the Resort Club's Sunfish type boats. Great for children all ages. B-B-Q, table, and benches. Pine trees provide lots of shade.
South of Stella Maris - West Coast (leeside): Millerton's School Beach:
Transportation provided by our Bahamas beach resort, about 5 minutes away. Secluded bay, lots of small shells, yellow/white soft sand, about 1 mile long. Cute, small island just 200 yards off shore, for very nice 'miniature' snorkeling - shallow water, great for children of all ages.
And lots of other beaches and bays - Northwest, West and East
Beaches and bays with special features (snorkeling, shelling, the Blue Hole and more) are found all along the island's length, mostly accessible by good or fair roads. These include Salt Pond (East Coast for body surfing); Guana Cay (known for its curly tail Iguanas, with good snorkeling and a shallow wreck); the World's Deepest Blue Hole (right off the beach!); Turtle Cove (a beautiful, serene half-circle bay/nature pool); Clarencetown Harbour and Lochabar (superb scenery and beaches); Cabbage Beach (shelling).
